Brett Crawford Appointed Acting Revenue Secretary

BATON ROUGE - Governor Mike Foster has named Brett Crawford acting Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue, replacing John N. Kennedy who resigned effective April 30. Crawford had served as Undersecretary of the Department of Revenue since April 1998.

Crawford, 31, has lived most of his life in Baton Rouge and is a graduate of Baton Rouge High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Dartmouth College where he specialized in economics and finance.

Mr. Crawford began his career in 1989 as a consultant for the World Bank in Washington, DC. While at the World Bank, he worked with the governments of several middle eastern countries to design and implement investment projects focused on education and health care reform, small business and community development, and infrastructure development.

Mr. Crawford joined Louisiana state government in 1995 as Associate Coordinator of the Higher Education Transition Team for Governor-elect Foster. Following that, he served as Executive Director of the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation before joining the Department of Revenue.
